Creatine: When & How Should You Take It?
Timing matters less than most people think — consistency and daily saturation is what counts.
Creatine works by gradually saturating your muscle cells with phosphocreatine over 2–4 weeks. It is not a stimulant that provides an immediate jolt before lifting, so the exact hour of ingestion is far less critical than ensuring daily intake.
Most lifters benefit from 3g to 5g of Creatine Monohydrate taken once daily. You do not need an aggressive loading phase (20g/day) unless you wish to saturate muscle stores slightly faster, which can occasionally cause mild stomach upset.
Take it with water, electrolyte drink, or after a meal containing carbohydrates and protein to assist cellular uptake. Remember to drink adequate water throughout the day (at least 3–4 liters).
Always follow the serving size on the container label, and check with a physician if you have pre-existing kidney or metabolic conditions.
